The van wasn't quite as big as I'd expected.

The van broke, driver got lost several times on route (doubling the time spent driving) and he had a hard time helping us to carry the sofa, dragging it across the dirty ground causing lots of heavy stains, and bumping it hard on walls and edges. In his defense, it was a heavy sofa and a narrow staircase, so I'm sure we weren't his favourite assignment either. But he just kept pushing the sofa into the wall, not being able to take instructions on tilting and edging it upstairs. Apparently he didn't speak much English. Or he simply wasn't very used to carrying furniture, which is a shame since that's what we paid for.

As this was a flat move, the driver seemed surprised at the number of boxes and lifting items to take up stairs and was more exhausted than me (I am 55kg woman) . He was polite but perhaps not someone to handle fragile goods or a flat move.

Driver was very late, but my main problem was the lack of communication re this. I had to contact him when he hadn't turned up after 45 mins & that was when he told me he had just finished his prev job & wouldnt be with me for 45 more mins.

CMV response: The driver should have informed the customer of any delay and kept him updated on an arrival time, and also have informed the office who could have made a decision on sending a closer service provider. Driver now aware of this.
