We are not very happy about the original assigned driver did not show up at all on our booking time. After tracing through app, a replaced driver called and arrived 1.5 hrs after our booking time but the service provided by the replaced driver was good as he and his helper moved stuffs carefully and able to finish the task within the requested hours.

Excellent all round experience and drivers could not of been friendlier. They did all the heavy lifting of the difficult items both at the old and new property in a timely fashion. I couldn’t honestly tell you the difference be between these guys and “professional house movers” beyond the latter asking for three times as much!

Driver was speedy and careful with the loading and unloading his van. Turned up on time and was very pleasant to deal with. Moving from Wilmslow to Liverpool was as smooth as I could of hoped. Would definitely use again we I next need to move.

Do NOT hire these guys! You hire 2 men with a van, one of them is totally useless. They were very slow; as they knew they could be paid £22.50 for every extra 30mins, they took ages. I even saw one of them going to the van with one small pot of a plant! I paid for 2 hrs over the two hours planned, and I was moving out of a tiny flat, had no large appliances and carried almost 1/3 of the bags and boxes myself. They damaged one piece of furniture as well. They have ruined the whole idea of man with a van for me; I have been moving since student times, never seen such a service!

I do want to apologise to the customer for the way she feels about the job we’ve done. I want her to know that we had absolutely no intention of prolonging her job. Not even for 1 minute more than necessary. That is not who we are and will never become part of our business culture.
Below are my accounts of what happened during the move.
Upon arrival in the flat, the customer show us the items that were moving. I told her that there were more items them stated on the booking summary. She then said, yes, but just few. There were so many boxes and most of them heavy as well.
Next, I explained to her the information contained in the booking summary and we both agreed the details.
I then said – if we’re going to take everything in one go especially because of the size of the wardrobe (about 2.5 meters) we’re going to start with the furniture first and then park the bags and boxes etc. around them. But she instructed us to first take for eg. Some bags, bicycle etc.. At a point, I came back to her and told her that if we are to manage space properly in the van and avoid double trip/leaving other items, we may need to do as I stated above. I then said, this is an advice but if you still want us to continue as you instructed, we will. At that point, she said – you are the professional so do it your way. And we continued.
When we got to the bed frame, I said – the bed cannot go as it is. It should have been dismantled. She then asked if we could dismantle it and I said ‘yes’ but at a fee and we agreed. I then had a look at the wardrobe, went out and looked at the stairs. I told her that it was built in the room – which she accepted, and that it was too large to manoeuvre through the bend/curve on the stairs. She then suggested that we take off the doors. We took the doors off at no cost.
We then proceeded to take the wardrobe out. Got it out of the bedroom, into the hall way then to the kitchen. Unfortunately, it was too large and long and so couldn’t stand. We took it back in to the bedroom. The customer then said that the wardrobe was not important. But, that she’s taking it because of the landlord. She then asked if we could dismantled it. I answer yes, but at a fee. She agreed. She then asked – that will free up more space in the van, isn’t it? And I said – yes, it will give us more space in the van to take everything in one go. We left it as the last item. We then got the dining table from the kitchen but it could not go through the front door. The hall way was too small to manoeuvre it. We dismantled the dining table at zero cost.
We then proceeded with the rest of the items. My assistant took most of the items from the flat down to the foot of the stairs (sometimes to the van) and I took them from there into the van and packed them.
The stairs were a bit steeply and narrow and therefore, we had to be careful with the walls whilst manoeuvring things down the stairs.
Dismantling the wardrobe. Taking the nails off the back of the wardrobe proved difficult whilst dismantling it and was taking time. I then told her that we don’t want to damage it and as such, we couldn’t continue with it. At that point she said – if its damage, it really doesn’t matter. I’m not going to use it anyway but just need it out of here. Fortunately, we continued without any noticeable damage.
When we got to the delivery address, the customer instructed my assistant to take some of the smaller items upstairs. When I realised that, I went to the customer and told her that I don’t mind taking things upstairs but, it may take more time and therefore cost more and that I really didn’t want her to incur more cost. At which time she said, just bring up those items mentioned on the booking summary and the rest should go downstairs. The stairs were very steeply and narrow. The furniture had to be taken in to the toilet on the landing of the stairs, turn gently backward into the corridor to access the bedrooms.
Whilst removing the strapping from the wardrobe pieces, 2 pieces mistakenly slipped to the ground and slightly damaged the edge. I apologised to the customer for the damage caused and she said – it’s ok. Don’t worry.
The customer did helped with both loading and unloading and I really appreciated that.
The whole job was booked for 2 hours. We finished loading the van (full to the roof) around 16:30. That’s 30 minutes more than the time she had booked for the whole move. We finished offloading around 18:00. Why did it all take longer? Because:
- The collection address was a flat. Going up and down the stairs usually take longer than a house
- There were more items in the flat than mentioned on the booking summary
- Smaller items consumed more time as there’s so much you can take at once whereas, bigger items are heavy but apart from manoeuvring, take less time
- Dismantling bedframe, dining table and wardrobe took more time and were initially not part of the planned removal job
- Accessing the bedrooms of the delivery address was time consuming
