Driver and other helper were both really nice and it definitely wasn't his (the driver's) fault that the move was so delayed - he said that he'd been hired last minute as a replacement driver (first driver's van broke down). However, given that the moving van arrived 4.5 hours late, the overall experience was extremely poor. Communication at the beginning of this saga was also poor - we had to contact the company rather than the other way around, after hearing nothing from them from over half an hour (since they were due to have arrived). Wouldn't use the company again, nor recommend your site - the move was an unnecessary ordeal and we wasted hours(!) of our own time when we should have been unpacking in our new home.

The driver was great. Friendly & helpful. However his jobcard from the Comparethemanandvan website sent him to the wrong address/postal code despite my confirmation showing the correct address. No fault of the driver, however I was charged an additional £10.00 which I’d like to claim as a refund.

Fantastic service. Driver arrived exactly on time. He was incredibly helpful in moving our items and made sure they were strapped / had blankets on them. We had a tight awkward staircase but the driver wasn't phased. The whole move was completed in 45 minutes. Driver was super friendly and helpful throughout. Thank you!

We do make it clear both on the website prior to booking, and also on the email confirmation you receive, that if your booking begins or ends in the Congestion Zone, the £15 fee will need to be paid to the driver directly, so that he can in turn pay it to Transport for London. I booked Elly Transport, and was extreme unhappy with the service. The driver arrived more than 30 minutes late and did not have any blankets or straps for moving. I booked for the driver to help, and when we arrived at the new flat, he threatened me that he would charge me £27 if I did not help him carry the items. I have always used Man with a Van previously, and always booked the driver to help and never had this threat before. He also threatened to charge me for additional floors, when I had booked for for the 3rd floor. Once he told me I had to help otherwise he would charge me, he then put me under pressure to get the move completed in less than 20 minutes, when I had booked him for 2 hours. He also broke one of my items. The driver was rude, threatening, put me under time pressure, was aggressive and made me feel extremely uncomfortable. Please advise how this situation will be resolved? Thanks, Lisa Montgomery

Hi,
I believe the lady misunderstood me, I was moving her items by myself and was quite tired because it was many flights of stairs and she had many things so I told her if she wanted someone else to help with the move rather than just have me do it alone we could do it for £27 more for an extra helper.
I did not make any comment about the stairs nor did I pressure her because she was not moving anything, I was moving everything alone and I was working quickly and I did not make any comment to her about moving quicker.
I was late but did apologize when I arrived and she seemed ok with that and at the end of the day I did not charge her a single penny more.
About the broken item, when I was unloading everything I did not myself see anything broken as all the items were in bags, suitcases and plastic boxes.
We had a very smooth move with a very helpful driver who made it so much easier and quicker.

He smoked and didn't read my comments till he arrived so was unprepared and I'm left dissatisfied. I will not use the service again.
Driver was great - really efficient and very helpful. We were charged extra because in his view we had more than a medium van would be able to fit. It would be helpful if the site could be more specific about what typically fits in each sized van to avoid situations like this.

I always make sure that I help each customer as much as I can when they ask for driver help, and even when they don't. I do not particularly remember this booking, if the customer was unhappy with something I would have remembered so I'm not sure what he means or what he is referring to.

the drive was fine but even though i had ordered the right size van, the driver charge me an extra 11.50 in cash as he said he had to bring a larger van. I wasn't pleased with this as the website had calculated the size of the van i had to use based on the items listed so i shouldnt have incurred further cost but as i was under a time pressure to move i paid the driver anyway.

Having rerun the quote with the goods listed, we can confirm that the van recommended is a large van, whereas you booked a medium.
As advised on the website, if you fill a larger size van quota than that ordered, the driver is within his rights to charge his large van rate.
Very helpful and friendly driver, he called 1hr before to ask if we wanted him to be earlier, and the move was done in only one hour when we booked it for 2. Would use this service again.
Eddie and his colleague were very engaging and friendly, they were on time, had blankets and straps to secure the items properly in the van and were very respectful. They did not waste time and got the job done earlier than expected. Highly recommend these guys!!

Driver was friendly, helpful and proactive. He called to update about a little traffic and gps delay, didn't charge extra for that and provided an all around excellent service. Book this one.
Driver called to say he was 15 min late but by the time he arrived he was 40 min late because he went to wrong postcode and couldn't follow the directions I sent. He didn't have trolley. He had outdated GPS so couldn't find postcode for destination. The address is new built property but it is available in Royal Mail postcode finder since last 2 months. This was my 4th booking with comparethemanandvan but worst and most expensive van by far. On a positive note, he was respectful to my furniture, bags and boxes.

The only fact is that as been told us we couldn't park in front of the building, basically we had to park 200 meters far away and so we wasted al lot of time and at the and we had to pay the extra time £20 thank you for your help

The driver phoned to inform us that he was 15min late, which was naturally understandable, given the traffic. However during the move itself, the driver showed very little respect to my items. My request to be slightly careful with a bag containing delicate plates were met with the reply, "Can't guarantee, if they break they break." much to my surprise. I also had 4 of my friends help carry my items from upstairs down to the pavement, to help with the loading process, the driver had only carried one item down the stairs when he complained that I had made a mistake entering the information about flight of stairs: I had paid for the driver to help carry items with 2 flights of stairs since I live on the 2nd floor, with about 15 steps in total; however the driver argues that I should've paid for 4 flights of stairs as there was a mini-landing between each flight of stairs... I felt that a driver who was already 15 minutes late and only carried one item down those stairs, shouldn't have been in a position to argue, especially with his complete misunderstanding of the phrase "flight of stairs"... We were also informed that we would be charged £20 extra if our items crossed a certain point in his van, even though we had already paid for the space of the entire medium van. All in all we were thoroughly disappointed, and felt cheated out of the services we had already paid for. I am completely baffled by the torrent of good reviews for this particular driver and I can say for certain that based on what we experienced today, I would not recommend him to anyone.

I am sorry to receive this review and maintain that I did not disrespect the customer's possessions. One of the customer's friends was throwing the bags into the van and I did tell him to be careful because if something broke it would not be my responsibility. I maintain that I was not handling the items badly. In any event, I note that no items were broken.
The customer had 2 people helping with the move, not 4 and I did not carry just one item down stairs, I carried as much as I could, we all did.
I also deny that I made any comment about the stairs at all.
I did not try to charge the customer any additional money, and none was paid. I have a large high roof van and I of course made this fully available to the customer.
The fact remains that I felt that the customer was upset with me from the beginning because I was 15 minutes late, even though I called him before to let him know I was stuck in traffic.

I would like to inform you that I was highly disappointed with my delivery. I used the van to actually pick up and order from North London to South London. The company I was ordering from were meant to give me three meter rolls of fabric, but instead folded them into a box. The issue being, although the driver was friendly enough (after struggling to find a straight forward location ((that was clearly signed)) requiring a lot of phone calls on my part), when he eventually delivered the parcel he was massively unimpressed by how small the box (instead of 3m in height rolls of fabric) was. I can completely understand the shock, and the unnecessary nature of the van, however I can say that it was my decision to order a van, and whether I ask for a single sheet of paper, or lots and lots of heavy boxes, it makes no difference to the driver. I was willing to pay a lot of money because I found it necessary and it was my decision. Therefore I am rather unimpressed with the service.

This guy was the best removal guy I have ever had. He was on time, speedy and made a tough job seem painless. He organised all the bulky items, for a job that we would have struggled with had it not been for him. Would recommend to anyone.
