The guys were late, unprepared. They arrived and start moaning for 20 minutes that they didn’t know where to park, asking us how could they do and that if they would get a fine we’ll have to pay for it. After that wondered around looking at the items then told us to start to bring the stuff half way the stairs for them and towards the end to bring them all the way down while they were loading the van. I mean seriously I paid good money so that I didn’t have to do the job myself and I still ended up doing it. I spent time to cover my matress so that wouldn’t get dirty and while bringing it downstairs the cover broke and even after I told them please to be carful they siply complained they didn’t know how to grap it so they just kept moving it on the floor in the street. Once everything was done (2 hours before the 4 hours I paied for, since me and my friend did half the job ourselves) they overcharged us £30 for a bigger van, which by the way was exactly like the one in the picture on my confirmation email and an extra flats of stairs, which I still don’t get as first of all my flat is at the second floor as mentioned while booking and also we brought ourselves almost everything downstairs, so which extra flats of stairs are they even talking about???!!! That was a very bad experience which I paid a lot of money for, I really wish to hear back from you!!!

Hello

I'll address every point as followed as this is not what happened on the day.

Firstly, we arrived and was unable to park anywhere on the customer's road as the customer lives on a one way main road with a bus stop outside. The roads either side of her property were both congested and had both restrictions and double yellow lines, meaning there was absolutely no place to park.

As we were unable to park and the customer had not arranged suitable parking for us, I left the 2nd man in the van while I assessed the job and tried to workout exactly how we were going to be able to park the van without getting a fine, while getting the customer's goods downstairs and into the van. I explained to the customer (who could see) that there was no place to park without getting a fine that if she looks into the Terms & Conditions, if she advises us to park somewhere and we get a fine, this fine will then be her liability.

As for the second accusation, we started moving the goods downstairs and into the small tight passage way, we then filled the passage way and started a chain as the customer was up 3 flights of stairs. The customer then said she (and her friend) would take some things downstairs. At no point were they asked or expected to. These were her goods and if she chooses to help (as a lot of customers do) this is welcome, but not an expectation and has NEVER been something we ask for.
As they were helping bring the items down, we included them in our chain. Once the passage way was full and most of the goods were downstairs I then moved the van onto a double yellow line, so we could move the goods from the passage to the van. At this point the customer still had a few goods upstairs and began to bring them down while we cleared the passage way, which was no longer able to hold anymore goods.

Her 3rd point, the customer wrapped her mattress in loads of black bags making it impossible to carry as we realised while trying to carry it down the stairs. When we got to the bottom my colleague complained that he could not grip the mattress any more to carry it to the van as it was covered in plastic bags and was slipping out of his hands. He then took the black bags off of the place where the handle was and carried it from the property to the van. Not once was the mattress dragged in the street as this is (a) not possible and (2) the customer was standing next to us.
If this was true I'm sure she would have said something straightaway! This 100% did not happen as we couldn't physically drag a mattress across the floor without totally destroying the mattress.

Her 4th point, the job was booked for a medium van, the van in the picture is a Luton van and is not the van that was booked. The customer filled the van to capacity and the volume of her goods wouldn't have fit in a medium, or even a large van. I explained this and showed her friend who drove with us, exactly what a medium, large and Luton van was, and that a Luton was required for this booking. The larger van fee was what she paid the extra for. She didn't pay £30 extra, she paid £20 extra which included the extra flights of stairs which she had also omitted from her booking. The total requested was £138

The customer's building has 1 long flight of stairs and then 2 blocks of stairs which go on to a separate floor. The first long flight was like 2 flights but was not charged as 2 flights as there was no floor or breaks, just 1 long windy staircase so this was only charged as 1 flight. The 2 separate blocks of stairs which lead to a small floor were classed as 2 flights.

....oh, one thing we did do is we were 10 mins late which I called and informed the customer of. That was correct in her statement .

Top guys, got the job done quickly but handled everything well, no damages. I was moving workshop, quite a lot of heavy tools and parts, they got stuck in and done a great job. Highly recommended!

Lee and Co called me in the middle of one of the worst snow storms of the past few years not to cancel, just to let me know they would be late which was of course understandable. The guys were friendly and really nice and patient in moving all of my stuff in the middle of a snow storm! Can't recommend them enough for making the move so easy! Thanks guys! :)

The men were 2.5 hours late, they did text in the morning saying they would be an hour late blaming the weather, however, they later admitted they had booked a job in Dagenham just before ours which ran over. They didn't bring any trollies etc. with them so fragile items were just treated like other boxes - there was only one damage, my jewellery which was in a fragile box and a "do not tip" sign was on its size. At the end of the session the guys asked for more money saying we had taken 2hr 45 and had paid for 2. I showed them my receipt showing I had paid for 3 hours so they then changed their story and said we were 3 hour 45 - I had to show them call log and text messages showing when they arrived to prove we had been less than 3 hours. Overall, the COmpare the Man and Van team have been fantastic but I wouldn't use this company ever again


Driver's response:

Having looked at what was said this is totally unacceptable and no money should be returned for a job that was completed in completely terrible condition.
Nobody should of been working in these conditions or driving in them the roads was not clear and accidents where happening all around the country. I stated to the customer that the times will be late due to the weather condition prior to being late, and stated I would update them on the time as the weather was really bad. In these condition we could of very easily cancelled the job as the whole country was warned of the bad weather.
In regard to any damage NONE of the goods was miss handled and nothing from what I saw was damaged. These claims are outrageous and I have taken a massive offense to the disgraceful way that the customer wishes to describe us dispit the fact of us moving in condition where we ourselves witness drives get stuck on the same road we moved them to as the ice made there wheels spin and I myself had to assist them getting out. I also nearly had accidents on the Thursday due to us being unable to stop and other drives pulling out as if the roads did not have ice on them.
When we arrived, we moved 1 item we was greeted with a response of "we are working slow and move faster" at this point we had picked up 1 item and moved it to the lift it took no more than 30 secs to move it but was greeted with this type of attitude, the attitude from the customer from the beginning was absolutely disgraceful and nobody should be subjected to working on these types of condition, this is possible 1 of if not the worst customer I've had to deal with as there was no appreciation for the fact we could possibly hurt ourselves moving their goods in the snow.

I would be massively disappointed if we have given them back money for this as this isn't the full story and there should not be anything given for people who want to act the way they have during the job if the time was a problem I had no problem in letting somebody else do the job and if that was stated or the time was a problem then this could have been stated at any time and I would of call up to give it to another driver (if another drive would of taken on the work in these conditions)

Nearly 3 hours late, did apologise twice for being late but weren't exactly careful with my boxes as 1 was completely broken, another boxes lid has been partly broken and a small part of the lip on another box is slightly broken
