The staffs, perhaps, from Poland attended for my move have kept on moaning about the size of the packets. Though I have requested them and have apologised before them, I have to do the boxes within short time which is why some of the boxes were big and heavy. I have offered to help them if they need. They first refused to carry them, then with my persistent requests they did at the end. But, they kept on complaining in the whole of the shift about those boxes. They talked about health and safety rules all the time. In my booking service, I have mentioned about the number of boxes and bags. They kept on saying they can not do more than this. They filled the van which had already a sofa inside, with our boxes, but, it looked half- full.They finished their job about half an hour early. But, I paid the whole money they charged me. They did not take all of our stocks or carry for which we had to spend another £70. This staffs are very very illmannered, unfriendly, and unhelpful people. It was very difficilt to communicate them because of their poor linguistic abilities. I have booked them for 3 and half hours, but they kept on talking to their own language all the time. Last time, I booked with the same company where two old people did more than what they did with no moaning and then, I paid them extra £ 10.00 for their service. But, this time, they have made our move extremely miserable.

We were only informed that he was going to be late 40 minutes before despite having called him in the morning and told him that our initial time was tight and we would lile to come even 1 hour earlier if he can. He said he will inform us depending on how his day goes, to eventually come 50 minutes late from the original booked time.
We called man&van at least 3 times and they insisted up until 10 minutes before that he will only be 20 minutes late to end up 50 mins late. We had to move to a storage place that was closing down and then fly out of the country in the evening with 2 newborns in the house and receiving this kind of tretment and service was truly stressful and bad by any standard in the UK. And not only that, it took 20 minutes more than the booked time and they charged us 20 pounds extra for half hourly delay charge eventhough they were late and it wasnt 30 minutes. They even charged us 20 pounds on top because we had booked a large van and they came with an extra large van and said that if they have come with a smaller one our stuff wouldnt fit, so they charged us even though they came with that van anyway without knowing how many iur stuff were. I consider this to be cheating the customers and charging them extra money where they shouldnt. I will never use man&van again and i will go in google reviews and other social media to write this dreadful experience so that people know how these people work. CMV RESPONSE: We are sorry for the delay on your booking. We were informed by the driver that they would be 20 minutes late, however, we do have a Lateness Refund Policy which you will find attached to your email booking confirmation. Please note that your booked time would only ever begin from the time that the driver arrived, so any additional time should be paid for at the driver's half hourly rate on the booking. Not having the luxury of our own parking space we were expecting the driver to make use of a nearby loading bay for local businesses. Due to his can't do attitude and annoyance of the situation of having to wait for the bay to become available (which it did twice during the time we were trying to sort it out and both times lost the space because the van wasn't moved. Surely that is what mobile phones are for?). On reflection we are most annoyed at this as we had payed for the van for 3 hours and the job did not take that long, so he should have waited and made use of the free space instead of insisting we pay more. Very quickly we were told the job would either be cancelled or we would have to pay an additional £60 for him to park up directly outside the building. Having us over a barrel we had no choice but to agree only to have him try to add additional charges at the other end over a nonsense issue. Whilst I admit that once the move got underway they movers were efficient I can't help but feel we have been played to bump up the overall cost of the job and as we selected the drivers services based on the price this was a complete false economy. We felt further pained by the rude manner in which the driver demanded a cash payment. Having not said anything about cash only policy the driver quoted at the other end it was our assumption we could make a card payment to Compare the Man & Van so we could have an invoice generated for the extra charge, the same as when we had booked originally. The driver became very abrupt and demanded we leave our move site to go get him cash out with no way for him to give us an invoice or receipt. Absolutely disgraceful. Having previously moved our storage unit the week prior with a different company we are kicking ourselves we did not give them the additional job. Their service, in the same area facing the same problems, were dealt with in a much more professional and pleasant manner. We will not be using the drive nor Compare The Man & Van in future, seeing as this is the kind of service you endorse.

Not only did they offer to come a little bit earlier as their previous job had finished, but they were so nice and made the day incredibly fun (if you can believe that). My husband and I helped do the move along with them as we wanted to make it go as quickly as possible, and they helped us strategise the best way to work together so as not to go majorly over on the time we'd booked in order to save US money. Can you believe that? We had a lot of laughter on the day, along with the hard work, and at the end everything was in place in the new house without a scratch on the walls and without anything breaking. I can't recommend them enough - they made a painful process a lot less painful. Book these guys!

They were careful with every item/box and had experience in handling. My first location had tight stairway turns but they did the moving expertly and that include my extremely heavy industrial sewing machine! At the end point I had delivery from IKEA for wardrobe which couldn't fit in lift and Ikea actually sent one man for a 2m wardrobe etc. These guys came to my rescue, helped with my delivery and I couldn't thank them more. A lot of our wooden furniture is covered in deep scratches and marked. The sofa is now covered in black marks which doesn't come out. Very angry about this.

Also, they are good drivers, thoughtful movers and generally nice guys. Little touches won me over, such as getting themselves drinks of water for the journey and picking me one up too as a surprise; putting down blankets on the carpet so it didn't get dirty (without me saying anything); taking huge care not to damage the walls on the way in and out of the property. Honestly, they're great. Would definitely use them again.

They also did not stack furniture and when I gave feedback the little guy got in a huff and got moody. I have furniture pieces that I value and don't want them scratched e.g. put a bike on top of my antique blanket box and then him saying that I don't have dust covers. I would have stacked the blanket box under my dinning table if I had the choice. I appreciate they they do this stuff all the time but it's my furniture. They also put two rusty outside mirrors on my mattress, which now has rust on it. The other taller guy was really nice. Neither spoke English, which would have helped. I appreciate that they had 4 shifts to do in one day so this can't be easy.

Nonetheless, it was very cheap and the two chaps were very impressive managing a huge amount of goods in one van trip with some clever packing. I hired the guys from ABC removals to move to a new flat. I was supposed to travel in the van with them but was told that there's no room for me on the day. So I had to travel separately and was unable to keep an eye on my stuff. I was also unable to unpack everything until one week after moving so didn't realise one of bags that contained my DSLR camera and other things was missing straight away. I tried to contact ABC removal if it was left in the van or if they remember seeing it during the move, but I didn't get any reply from them. I have checked a few times if I left anything in my old flat but I didn't. It seems like it went missing during the move unfortunately. It was my fault that I didn't check if anything was missing straight after unloading everything but I thought they could be trusted. It is very disappointing that I was unable to receive a good service everyone else did and ended up losing some expensive possessions. Driver's response: This customer was given the option to travel in the van, but chose to take an uber instead. She was subsequently refunded the cost of the uber fare as a goodwill gesture. She subsequently reported her bag missing some 8 days following the move. She confirmed in written correspondence that she checked the van at the end of the booking and it was empty. There is absolutely no evidence that the drivers took, or were responsible, for the bag going missing. She could easily have misplaced this in the 8 days following the booking, if it was ever in the van at all. The customer has continually asked for a further refund of her payment and the drivers believe this to be a disingenuous claim. | 6 years ago |

I think this was due to two factors - 1) the initial traffic from Hayes to Upminster. The drivers left Hayes at 9.45 and didn't arrive in Upminster until 11.50am. They are still at the final destination and have charged us two extra hours. Although I don't see why we are being charged as we can't do anything about the traffic.

Got there earlier as they finish a job much earlier than expected. However, they told me" relax, take all the time you need I can wait, we don't have to start until the time you booked, you got time" From the very first moment till the last they were positive, chatty, funny and super eficiente. They knew what they were doing caring stuff carefully and protecting it step by step. Made moving feel easy and effortless and I became super positive as well. Went out of his way to make sure we were happy and not panicking, making suggestions and advice that really made a difference! When we got to the flat, even helped moving a few things around and helped suggested certain improvements that worked straight away. Do not hesitate choosing them as they were heaven sent. They even had spare boxes etc should any costumer need it, and I thought that's really nice, as they don't need to go that extra mile after already being so great and helpful. First thing Dominik did was evaluated the situation and all the belongings we wanted to move. Then he shared his plan of actions and told us to enjoy cup of tea while he and his partner will move the stuff to the van (he understood the stress of moving).
Dominik and Kuba were very careful with the fragile things we had and the the communal area, as it was just after the refurbishment and there were a few bulky pieces of furniture. After van was fully loaded and belongings secured with ropes, we went to a destination - there was 1 spare seat for me. The van itself was clean, quite new, driver was carefully driving not to damage the goods. He also brought a 2nd person along to help which made the whole move so much easier and quicker. We had a tricky move with having to use three flights of stairs on a fire escape and they handled it brilliantly. The move was large and we ended having to do three trips and over ran on the booked time. This was no problem for them. Just said that they would stay until the job was done. Would highly recommend using them.

They worked very hard and took away a load of stress on move day. We moved from a two bed maisonette to a four bed house (four flights of stairs from our flat) and they did a great job. With all credit to you, a replacement was found very quickly, but with only a driver and one man. They were excellent, I couldn't fault their courtesy or efficiency. I had been promised a 50% refund, which I am yet to receive.
